Over 2,000 crime prevention practitioners will be attending the 24th Deutsche Präventionstag (DPT) and the 13th Annual International Forum (AIF), which is taking place from 20–21 May in Berlin. We are pleased that a number of CCI Consortium members will also be participating in this important event — as well as presenting at the AIF.
The DPT congress is the world’s largest annual conference discussing crime prevention and related issues. The majority of attendees are German but the Annual International Forum, created especially for non-German speaking participants, provides the international perspective needed to share experiences and create a much-needed dialogue between diverse practitioners.
CCI Project Coordinators Prof. Caroline L. Davey and Andrew B. Wootton will deliver a presentation on the CCI project on Tuesday 21 May. The presentation will introduce the thinking behind CCI, and show how the project will provide partner LEAs with valuable experience in requirements capture, problem framing, ideation, concept generation, solution design and prototyping that is transferable to other areas. Further details are on the DPT website, here.
Anno Bunnik from the University of Groningen will deliver a presentation on "Modernising law enforcement intelligence for a digital society" (details here) and Advisory Board member, Prof. Alexander Siedschlag, will deliver a presentation on "A Culture of Preparedness: Fostering Prevention and Values" (details here). The Landeskriminalamt (LKA) in Lower Saxony will present (in German) on diversity in residential areas (details here), and will have an exhibition stand to promote their various projects.
This year's main topics is Prevention and & Democracy Promotion. Participation and design, diversity and tolerance are terms derived from basic democratic values. Democracy thus sets the framework for preventive action. It is both the basis and the engine of prevention. In the area of prevention of violence and radicalization, the promotion of democracy is also a key means of prevention. The focus of the 24th German Day of Prevention is dedicated to this comprehensive cooperation.
