Bahnhofsviertel are urban and diverse places where anonymity and heterogeneity cause confrontations and conflicts of use. The public space of the Bahnhofsviertel is different in many ways, especially when it comes to its structural, spatial and social space conditions and mobility in traffic, which can cause discomfort, fear or even avoidance behavior in some people. In the webinar, we take this finding as an opportunity and ask what features characterize public space in train station quarters. What strategies do cities use to ensure safe use of public space? What can fear-free use look like for everyone in the Bahnhofsviertel? And what enables the appropriation of public spaces in the Bahnhofsviertel? We want to address these and other questions as part of the webinar.
