The Bucharest Conference, in addition to dealing with the usual topics criminologists are working on, that can be easily defined as crimes perpetrated by individuals, will also focus on offences committed within different organisational frameworks. While putting together organisational crime and organized crime may seem surprising, it is clear that both forms of crime require a certain extent of political, financial or social influence in order to be successfully perpetrated and generally, for both categories, money is the final goal. Nonetheless, the participation of individuals is mandatory. We therefore find the title “(Il)legal organizations and crime: Challenges for contemporary criminology” fitting for the ESC 2021 Bucharest conference, the Easternmost point of ESC conferences.
